As an Instructional Designer and Educational Researcher at CBI, Shelby leads the institute's workforce and professional development efforts. She designs and develops course content and e-learning resources to create asynchronous online courses for professional geospatial audiences, manages CBI's online course catalog, and works with industry partners to develop on-the-job training programs. Shelby partners with experts in geospatial science and surveying on every project, applying andragogical theory to translate their knowledge into effective learning experiences.

Her work extends beyond workforce development to supporting the geospatial science academic program at TAMU-CC, where she partners with instructors to incorporate pedagogical theory into online undergraduate courses. Through her support of the Point of Beginning initiative, she participates in K-12 outreach events and helps develop geospatial learning activities for all ages.

Shelby brings valuable professional experience from previous roles working in STEM education within K-12 and undergraduate settings across Texas, New Mexico, and Washington. Her research has focused on geomatics education within universities and the active workforce. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, Learning Sciences with an emphasis in Instructional Design and Education Technology from TAMU-CC, a Master's degree in STEM focused Education from Texas Tech University, and a Bachelor of Science in Geography from New Mexico State University.
