As a Geospatial Research Scientist, Dr. Brian O’Cinneide provides research expertise across the institute's portfolio of sponsored projects, working with development teams to specify technical requirements for geospatial systems, researching applicable methodologies, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop project scopes. Brian is an FAA Part 107 certified UAV pilot and has taught physics at Del Mar College and supported GIS instruction at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Brian holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Physics from Trinity College Dublin and conducted postdoctoral research at synchrotron facilities in Sweden and Germany before turning his research focus to geospatial sciences. He spent seven years as a GIS Specialist in the civil engineering and land surveying industry, where he managed enterprise GIS operations and developed geospatial solutions for land surveying workflows, engineering design, and municipal utilities.
